Sellick's Maneuver and Tracheal Bleeding by Mucosal Damage: A case report.

Department of Anesthesiology, College of Medicine, Catholic University, Seoul, Korea.
Abstract
Sellick's maneuver is a simple and valuable method for protection of airway, difficult intubation and even perception of feeling passage of tube. But this technique causes various untoward responses and complications. We experinced tracheal bleeding at the time of extubation, finally with fiberoptic bronchoscopy-confimed mucosal abrasion on anterior tracheal wall due to cricoid compression at the time of intubation by untrained assistant. So there is a need of careful management as well as education and training for adequate application in cricoid pressure.
Key Words: Complications, Tracheal bleeding
